Synergy Video Productions (Pty) Ltd (“we”, “us”) respects your privacy. This policy explains what personal information we collect through this website, why, who we share it with and the rights you have under South Africa’s Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA).

What we collect

  • Contact form: your name and surname, phone number, email address and the project description you type. All fields are needed so that we can reply to you; if you prefer not to provide them, you can call, email or WhatsApp us instead.
  • When you contact us directly by email, phone or WhatsApp: the details you choose to send us.
  • Technical information: like every website, our hosting provider records basic request information (such as IP address, browser type and the time of the request) to deliver the site and protect it from abuse.

We do not use analytics or advertising trackers on this website, and we do not knowingly collect information from children.

Why we use it

  • To reply to your enquiry, prepare a quote and, if you go ahead, deliver our video production services.
  • To keep the contact form free of spam and the website secure.

We process this information because you asked us to respond to you or to take steps towards a contract with you, and because we have a legitimate interest in protecting the website from abuse (POPIA section 11). We will not add you to a mailing list or send you marketing unless you agree to it, and we never sell your information.

Who we share it with

We share personal information only with the service providers that run this website for us:

  • Vercel Inc. (USA) hosts the website and processes the contact form.
  • Resend (USA) delivers the contact form message to our mailbox.
  • Google (USA) provides reCAPTCHA, which checks that the contact form is used by a person and not a bot. Google’s Privacy Policy and Terms of Service apply.
  • YouTube (Google) hosts the videos on this site (see below).

These providers are located outside South Africa. We use them because the transfer is needed to respond to your request, and they are bound by their own data protection terms, which give a level of protection similar to POPIA (POPIA section 72). We may also disclose information where the law requires it.

Cookies and embedded content

This website does not set its own cookies. Two third-party services may store information on your device:

  • reCAPTCHA loads only once you start filling in the contact form. Google may then collect device and usage information and set a cookie to detect bots.
  • YouTube videos are embedded in YouTube’s privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com). In the portfolio and on the home page, nothing is loaded from YouTube until you press play; on the podcast pages the player loads when you scroll to it. Once YouTube content loads or plays, YouTube may store information on your device.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings at any time.

How long we keep it

We keep enquiries only for as long as we need them to deal with your request and for our business records, after which we delete them. Records of work we do for clients are kept for as long as the law requires.

How we protect it

The website is served only over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection, form messages are delivered to our mailbox, and only we have access to that mailbox. If we ever discover that your information has been accessed without authorisation, we will notify you and the Information Regulator as POPIA requires.

Your rights

Under POPIA you may:

  • ask whether we hold personal information about you and request a copy of it;
  • ask us to correct or delete information that is inaccurate, out of date or no longer needed;
  • object to us processing your information;
  • withdraw any consent you have given; and
  • lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator.
